چکیده

Polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) is a polymer that expansively employed in denture base construction due to its low cost, aesthetics, lightweight, reparability, and processability. Nevertheless, this material not ideal fulfill the mechanical physical characteristics of dental restorations. Despite popularity thermal polymerization method, main shortcoming prolonged curing period. Thus, correctly selecting cycle post-polymerization treatment needed achieve promising outcomes. In autoclave polymerization, pressure plays crucial function accelerating initial as well decreasing pores remaining monomer level, thereby improving flexural strength. Besides, ultrasound can speed up conventional chemical reactions by generating intensive local heating, higher pressures, very short periods. This article reviews currently protocols for enhancing PMMA polymers discusses properties modified acrylic materials. Moreover, work explores effects treatment, process, ultrasonic gamma irradiation on performance, positive influence these treatments functional clinical longevity.

Shear Bond Strength of Acrylic Denture Teeth to PMMA and Polyamide Denture Base Materials

Introduction: Detachment of denture teeth from denture base is one of the most common reasons for costly denture repairs .This study aimed at evaluating the bond strength of an acrylic denture tooth to polyamide injection-molded thermoplastic denture base material compared with three conventional polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) denture base resins. Materials and Method: A total of 40 acrylic dent...

Bonding of Acrylic Resin Teeth with Denture Base Resin

The debonding of acrylic resin teeth with the denture base resin has been related to several different factors of which contamination of the bonding surfaces with wax has been suggested as the major cause. The purpose of this study was to determine the efficient method of wax removal from denture teeth using hot water at different temperatures ranges. Acrylic rods were used as tooth analogues a...

Physical Properties of Polyamide-12 versus PMMA Denture Base Material

OBJECTIVES Polyamide-12 (PA) is a flexible material suited for denture bases and clasping. This study investigated its potential aging effects with a focus on surface roughness, color stability, and elasticity. METHODS PA specimens (Valplast) of 40×10×2 mm and equally measuring PMMA specimens (Palapress) as control were fabricated. Color changes after storage in air, water, coffee, and red wi...

Temperature of denture base resin under different protocols of microwave irradiation.

This in vitro study evaluated the temperature of dentures after different microwave irradiation protocols. Two complete dentures (one maxillary and one mandibular denture) were irradiated separately 4 times for each of the following 5 protocols: dentures immersed in water (G1- 6 min, G2- 3 min); dentures kept dry (G3- 6 min); dentures placed in the steam sterilizer (G4- 6 min, G5- 3 min). The f...

Flexural and fatigue strengths of denture base resin.

STATEMENT OF PROBLEM Mechanical properties of denture acrylic resins are important for the clinical success of multiple types of prostheses. Acrylic resins must be strong and resilient so as to withstand impact. Few studies utilize cyclic loads to characterize material response to repeated stress. PURPOSE The purpose of this study was to evaluate static and dynamic flexure properties of a var...
